This exciting programme is an opportunity to further your dance training in a creative and supportive space. CYD will provide the perfect platform to explore a career in dance.

Within this training programme you will not only be taught by professional dancers from Coalesce, there will also be a variety of sessions led by external guest contemporary dance companies. Previous companies include; Wired Aerial Theatre, Garry Clarke Co, Joss Arnott Dance, Night People, and many more. 

​

There are a minimum of 3 guaranteed performance opportunities per year at CYD's home base, The New Adelphi Theatre which seats 350 people. Coalesce also takes CYD dancers to external platforms, theatres and festivals throughout the year, touring work that has been made in collaboration with the dancers. Previous cohorts have performed at The Lowry Salford, Z-arts Manchester, Now Northwich Festival, Square Chapel Halifax, and many more exciting venues throughout the North of England. 

 

​Each year there will also be a two day intensive led by a nationally respected choreographer. In 2025/26, the intensive choreographer was Mathew Rawcliffe. The company also boasts an exciting exchange programme with other youth organisations in the North, with 2025/26 cohort exchanging with Company Chameleon Youth.

CYD alumni dancers have gone on to further study at world renowned institutions such as: JV2, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Bird College UK, as well as working professionally for various industry organisations.
